LEADING SELF: Continuous Learning

Description

TakingITGlobal is an online community (http://www.tigweb.org) that facilitates global education, social entrepreneurship, and civic engagement for millions of youth worldwide. TIG’s mission is to empower youth to understand and act on the world's greatest challenges. To better explain how this happens, TIG’s theory of change posits that there are 4 areas (quadrants) where progressive development can occur: Interior Individual, Exterior Individual, Interior Collective, and Exterior Collective.

Through TIG’s various programs and projects, young people move along a linear path through each quadrant, as exhibited by the diagram below.

(A) Youth Development: Youth develop a sense of social responsibility and awareness of global issues, as well as build capacity, regardless of their placement across the spectrum of engagement. i.Learn more about the pressing issues of our time by exploring the global issues section: http://www.tigweb.org/global-issues/ ii. (C) Social Movements: Global social movements are strengthened through collaboration with other organizations to ensure youth participate and become key stakeholders in these efforts. i. (D) Societal Values: Societal values are impacted through involvement in global social movements, ultimately influencing attitudes and behaviours towards creating a more sustainable world. i. 2. Based on the theory of change, navigate through the TIG website (www.tigweb.org) to explore what you can do along this pathway.

3. In a discussion thread, share one area of the TIG website you explored for each quadrant of the theory of change. How would you use this tool to develop your social change project?
